ELA & Social Studies Teacher

Hello families! I'm Mrs. Alexander-Hester, and I’m honored to be your child’s 3rd grade English Language Arts teacher. I’m a proud wife and mom to two wonderful high schoolers, and I bring that same care and dedication into my classroom every day. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, loved, and encouraged to take risks, all while having fun!

This is my tenth year in education, and I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love. I began my academic journey with an Associate’s in Education from Hinds Community College, along with a second Associate’s in Pre-Health. I later earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Jackson State University, where I also completed a Specialist degree in Psychometry and Counseling.

I hold endorsements in Special Education, English, Social Studies, K–12 education, and Psychometry. These qualifications help me support a wide range of learners and create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

I’m excited to work with you this school year and help your child grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Let’s make it a fantastic year together!

Hello families! I am Ms. Perkins, and I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade Math and Science this school year. I believe in setting high expectations, bringing big energy, and helping every student grow with confidence. My goal is to create a classroom where students feel encouraged, challenged, and supported as they learn and succeed.

I earned my Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Teaching Middle Grades (K-6) from Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS—Hail State! This is my 5th year in education and my 3rd year as a certified teacher with the Jackson Public School District.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, creating content, watching TV, studying my Bible, spending time with my family and friends, and traveling.

I am looking forward to an amazing year of learning and growth with my scholars

Hello families! My name is Mrs. Priest, and I’m excited to be your child’s 3rd grade English Language Arts teacher. With over 27 years of experience in education, I bring a deep passion for teaching and a strong commitment to helping students grow academically and emotionally.

I’m a proud mom of three wonderful children—ages 28, 23, and 21—and a joyful grandmother to a sweet 3-year-old grandson. My family inspires me every day, and I bring that same love and energy into my classroom. I believe that when children feel safe, supported, and loved, they are more willing to take risks, explore new ideas, and truly enjoy learning.

My educational background includes degrees in Elementary Education, School Counseling, and School Psychometry. These areas of study have equipped me to meet the diverse needs of learners and create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Fun fact: I have a love for unique pens—especially 0.5mm ones! It’s the little things that bring joy to our days.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic school year filled with growth, discovery, and lots of learning. Let’s make it great together!
